Etzel CardeƱa, PhD, is Poul Thorsen Professor at the Department of Psychology, Lund University, Sweden. He is the past chair and director of the graduate program of the psychology and anthropology department at The University of Texas-Pan American as well as the past president of the American Psychological Association's Division 30 and of the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (SCEH). He is senior editor of the APA book Varieties of Anomalous Experience and of the book Acute Reactions to Trauma and Psychotherapy (Haworth Medical Press). He has about 120 publications, many of them in the top journals of the field. His work has garnered awards from APA Division 30, SCEH, the International Society for the Study of Dissociation, and The University of Texas-Pan American. He has studied directing at the graduate level and has worked professionally as a theater director and actor in the United States, Mexico, and Sweden.
