Dr. Julian Rappaport

Julian Rappaport is emeritus professor of psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a recipient of the American Psychological Association's Division of Community Psychology Distinguished Career Award and of the Seymour B. Sarason Award for "novel and critical rethinking of basic assumptions and approaches to human services, education, and other areas of community research and action." He is a past president of the Society for Community Research and Action and editor emeritus of the American Journal of Community Psychology. Dr. Rappaport edited (with Edward Seidman) the first Handbook of Community Psychology. His current interests are in the relationship between community narratives and personal stories in the construction of identity and social change.
